About Brandon Howard
Craftsmanship rooted in precision, experience, and care

Brandon Howard is the craftsman behind Renaissance Luthier Co., specializing in the precision setup, repair, and restoration of guitars and stringed instruments in Laguna Beach, California. With over a decade of experience in fine instrument repair and craftsmanship, he has built a strong reputation among musicians, collectors, recording professionals, and school music programs who rely on consistency, tone, and long-term reliability.
Originally from the Chicago area, Brandon brings a grounded, disciplined approach to his work—one shaped by hands-on experience, technical training, and a deep respect for craftsmanship. From refined setups to complex structural repairs, every instrument is approached with a focus on playability, structural integrity, and performance at the highest level.
A Foundation in Instrument Repair

Brandon began his journey with Orange County Music Repair, where he developed his expertise in instrument repair, setup, and restoration. Through years of hands-on experience, he became known for delivering consistent, high-level results and building lasting relationships with clients who trust his work.
He later expanded his experience within established music communities, including his time at Danman’s Music School, where he developed and launched an in-house repair program that continues to serve musicians today.
Expanding the Craft

With the evolution into Renaissance Artisans, Brandon has expanded his focus beyond repair into custom luthier work and hand-crafted instrument building. His work also extends into restoring antiques and home décor, applying the same level of craftsmanship, precision, and care to each project.
This broader scope reflects a commitment to craftsmanship in all forms—whether working on a musical instrument or a meaningful heirloom.
Where Art Meets Science

Brandon’s path into luthiery is rooted in both craftsmanship and technical understanding. He holds an Associate’s degree in Chemistry and previously worked as a chemist at Eurofins, where precision, process control, and attention to detail were essential.
He has also worked as a chemistry tutor and was recognized for academic achievement through honors societies, including Alpha Gamma Sigma and Phi Theta Kappa.
This analytical mindset carries directly into his work at the bench—where measurements, materials, and methods all play a critical role in the final result. The combination of art and science ensures that every instrument is not only restored or built beautifully, but also functions reliably and stands the test of time.
A Commitment to Craft & Client Care

Brandon currently works with recording studios, performing musicians, and local schools throughout Orange County, building long-term relationships based on trust, transparency, and consistent results.
At the core of his approach is a simple philosophy:
Do the job right, avoid shortcuts, and treat every instrument as if it matters—because to the player, it does.
Whether working on a cherished instrument, a custom build, or a one-of-a-kind piece, every project is approached with care, respect, and attention to detail. If a project falls outside his scope, he is committed to connecting clients with trusted professionals who can deliver the same level of quality.
Leadership, Discipline & Community

His experience includes collaborations with artists such as Sammy Hagar, reflecting the level of trust placed in his craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Leadership, Discipline & Community
